The Church of the True Religion
1. Judgment
God bless you all, believers and non-believers, saints and sinners. I am here to announce
the Day of Judgment and the coming of the Judge. Please stand up and show your respect
to the Court.
Who is going to be condemned and who is going to be exalted? Do not be afraid because
the Judge is not like the judges you know. The Judge is not going to judge you.
The Judge is going to judge your teachers and your leaders, and their teachings.
What is your religion? Who is your teacher? Did they teach you to worship? Did they teach you
to obey and follow? What else did they teach you?
You are going to learn that God is not about worshipping and religion is not about following
the leader. You are not a herd of sheep. You are created in the image of God. Your teachers
and your leaders will be asked, and will have to answer, where they got their ideas
about God and religion from.
You are going to learn that God and religion are about you and your happiness.
They are here to help you with your quest to be a dignified human being.
They are here to help you living to your true potential.
Rejoice. The truth is better than you expected. And it could not be any better.
2. Apologies
Please accept my apologies for the drama I introduced in the opening paragraph.
I apologize if what I wrote reinforces the false perception that God speaks like a bad actor,
or a lawyer, confusing everybody with outdated language and fuzzy thinking.
God speaks clearly and to the point. So keep on reading. But first let's start with
a little of history.
3. Christianity
Christianity plays a special role in the plan God has for you. Christianity was the religion
of the civilized world in the past two millennia. It helped in uniting different nations of Europe
and made the European Union possible. It helped in promoting art and in creating the new form of art,
the universal art transcending the borders of nations, languages and cultures.
It was a truly universalistic idea in continuation of the tradition of the Roman Empire.
Christianity gave us sculptures of Michelangelo, the music of Bach and the paintings of Leonardo
Da Vinci. The great music inspired by Christianity is played today in concerts in Japan and
in Australia. So is the pop music created in the age of Consumerism. However, while the former expands
our esthetic experience the latter leaves us with the hearing impairment.
Christianity committed horrible crimes against other cultures and traditions, and against
its own people. In the end, however, it matured and learned how to be more human and tolerant.
In this millennium the new Christianity will emerge as the only truly tolerant system treating
other spiritual teachings as equal and deserving utmost respect. Christianity will embrace other
spiritual teachings as much as those other spiritual traditions will embrace Christianity.
The prophecy of different nations and languages praising the Lord thus will be fulfilled.
This will not happen because of the Pope condemning "soulless America" and warning that there is
no salvation outside of the Catholic Church. This will happen when Christianity finally realizes
that it must discard the patriarchal structure, shed entrenched materialism, and start serving
the people instead of controlling them.
Is salvation possible outside of the Catholic Church? Salvation happens when you get out of
the patriarchal systems of intellectual oppression. You are saved when the chains are broken.
Pope promising "salvation" is about as right as the communists dictators promising
the "workers' paradise", or corporate oligarchy promising "freedom".
4. True Religion
The true religion is political. It is not logical to think that God is solely concerned
with personal issues of doing good deeds and loving one's neighbors while leaving out the issues
of social justice and social order as irrelevant to one's spiritual prosperity. To think so
is to believe that God is stupid and can be manipulated into promoting selfish interests
of those in power while assuring the misery and sufferings of the masses.
In this country [USA] people think that giving to charities is a virtue, which pleases God and
Jesus Christ. It does not. Giving to charities undermines state and allows the government
to engage in business as usual instead of fixing the problems that created the need for charity
in the first place.
However, views that God is more concerned with giving to charities than in helping the poor
are considered a norm indicating that the world of religion is still dominated
by the Pharisees who hate the message of Jesus Christ. The Pharisees hated Jesus Christ because
He was telling the truth. They hated Him because the truth made them look bad. Is this really
different today? Visit a debate forum and listen to Christians who fervently argue against science
and against common sense as something that makes the person dear in the eyes of God. This was
commented nicely by one smart atheists who made us laugh with the comment: "[According to Christians]
rational and logically thinking people are condemned by God. It seems that God loves only stupid
people and this is perhaps fair as they are the only ones who love Him back".
I don't know about you but to me those Christians who promote the idea of the stupid God are
the real sinners, not the atheists who deny the existence of such God. Do you really think
you are doing God a favor, or score points with Him, by rejecting science, or by condemning homosexuals,
or persecuting women seeking abortion? There is a verse in the Bible where God rejects the pleas
of those arguing that they were doing all those things in God's name. "Go away, I don't know you."
Well, I am not a preacher and I don't want to scare you. I only want to make you think.
The true religion is secular and it does not engage in "converting the sinners" business.
The true religion does not want to convert anybody. On the contrary, it teaches and practices
deep respect for every genuine belief coming from the heart and from a valued tradition. God does
not want to convert you even if you are an atheist who does not believe in God. Everybody has
the right to follow its own heart, mind and conscience. In the end you may conclude that Humanity
is your only Religion, Breath is your only Prayer, and Consciousness is your only God, as Yogiraj
Gurunath Siddhanath revealed, and I will be happy with your conclusion. Nobody has a monopoly
on the truth and any attempt to claim otherwise will be shattered and ridiculed in the end. All
I hope for is that we can understand each other on a deeper level than superficial differences
of language and words.
The only thing God wants as a politician is to engage with you into a sincere dialog about
why things go wrong between people, races, cultures, religions and classes, and what we can do
to improve our condition. If you love God you will rejoice hearing the good news about the God's
true nature and desires for the human race. Also, if you love the human race and wish the best
to the humankind you will love God's plan for liberating the humanity from the self-imposed chains
of injustice and oppression. It is a very old plan once described in the allegory of Jesus Christ,
His crucifixion and His resurrection. The powerful allegory of Jesus Christ needs to be re-told
and explained so everybody can understand God's plan for peace and justice.
5. Jesus Christ
The very important allegory of Jesus Christ crucifixion is primarily political. The world order
of the last two millennia is the Mount Calvary. The Church and the Emporium, the Pope and the Emperor,
the Sacred and the Secular are the two thieves with the innocent Son of God nailed on the cross
in the middle. However, it is not the gory scene of the past two millennia that counts. What counts
is the resurrection of the Truth on the "third day", in the third millennium.
What is the Truth to repeat the famous line of Pilate? The Truth is that in the Kingdom of God
there are no slaves and no masters. There are no those who have and those who have not. There are
no preachers and no followers. There is freedom, justice, equality, and fraternity. It is
the Garden of Eden restored.
If you think that the Kingdom of God is a utopian dream better think again. Study the customs
and social order of Bushmen from the Kalahari Desert, or Native Americans and many other aboriginal
communities, and you will realize that society where people are equal and free from being exploited
by others are not only possible but also natural and harmonious with our true nature. Among the things
that those "primitive" societies have, and which we are deprived of, are freedom from dehumanizing
work, leisurely pace of life, connection with nature and the vibrant spiritual life.
How can we reclaim the lost Paradise? Well, God does not tell you that you have to renounce
the civilization. However, since civilization made your life and conditions more complicated than
what they once were you need the God's guidance to restore the balance and harmony in your social
settings. I am not saying that the transformation will be easy. No, it will be a long journey once
described in the Bible as escape from Egypt. Remember, the Bible is all political.
6. Thomas Orr
I understand that what has been said here may raise the eyebrows of many people. Who is this fellow
Thomas Orr daring to speak of God with self proclaimed authority - you may ask. How is the need
for "God's guidance" to be reconciled with equality and fraternity? Aren't those who guide aiming
at getting control over others?
If you need an explanation about who I am, here it is. I was born with a sensitive nature
and ability to feel for the sufferings of people. I was born with intellectual curiosity
and inclination to think about the challenging problems and paradoxes of human conditions.
My life led me through some extraordinary experiences, which made me learn first-hand
what it means to be religious, spiritual or human, and know the difference. I learned to meditate
and to commune with nature. I learned to debate the Bible and to read other Holy Scriptures
of various cultures and traditions.
At various stages of my life I was an atheist and believer. I joined a religious sect.
I followed an Indian Guru. I studied astrology and New Age. I dealt with Christians, Jews, Buddhists,
Moslems and Hindus. I learned about the pearls of spiritual wisdom among people of various cultures
and religions, believers, non-believers and those who even cannot be classified as either.
I lived in a socialist country and in western democracy. I learned how the corporations work
and how people manipulate other people to gain power, money and influence. I found no difference
between how the communist and corporate buraucracies work and how they treat people.
Finally, I have received the official title of 'The Spokesman for God, Jesus Christ and Apostles
in Truth and Spirit, Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and End'. Interestingly, I am at this moment
the only surviving member of the group that bestowed this title upon me.
I have not received any divine revelation as some would expect of a God's prophet
and I do not wish to experience one. The truth does not need revelations to be recognized
as truth and the need for revelations disqualifies an aspiring prophet.
I have seen the light in the same sense as Edison realized his vision for various useful inventions,
or Mozart for the divine music he composed. I do not wish to see the light in the way similar to what
some fundamentalists of Christian or other religions experienced with rather dire consequences
to others.
If you have seen the light but you are not able to discuss your views without constantly
refering to your "illumination" I do not wish to debate you. On the discussion forums
I found the most inspiring thoughts coming from people very modest about the grounds on which
their belief systems was founded. To me these people are the modern saints and prophets.
Most of them were atheists.
7. God
"You are the gods" attest the Bible and Jesus Christ. If you say that God hates homosexuals
you only confess that you hate homosexuals. If you say that you have to fight for the God's rights
to be represented in the political offices in this country you only confess that you have the political
ambitions to impose your views on others. God is not responsible for your deeds and your words.
You are. Don't use the name of God unless you are sure that what you say in the name of God comes
straight from your heart and not from the concepts somebody planted in your head. Do not be a part
of other people's sins.
God is experience. What is your experience? Have you seen God? If you say that you know God
but you are not experiencing God this very minute you deceive yourself. Be like Socrates and aspire
to learn who you really are. Then you will know God.
I speak in the name of God because I speak from my heart. I am not afraid to take responsibility
for what I say. I don't need to hide behind God. Therefore, I know I speak in God's name.
I include the Bible in my speaches because I want to show you how the universal truth I talk
about resonates harmoniously with the hidden message of the Bible. I don't quote the Bible because
I need to patch the defects of my doctrine with a higher authority.
8. Constitution
I don't aspire to guide anybody or assume the role of a king. I am only writing the God's
Constitution. There is nothing hidden in the Constitution, there is no hidden agenda and
no double-speak. Everything there is for everyone to see. My mission is to be honest and to tell
the truth, not to deceive.
Constitutions are sets of fundamental principals governing modern democracies. They are not like
Koran in Islam or Torah in Judaism. Constitutions do not attempt to address every possible issue
which may arise in the society. Human mind is ever expanding and to think that one book can set
the limits for the mind is insulting to humanity, and to God. Yet, Constitutions are very powerful
documents that make the difference between those states that stand on the firm ground in defending
their citizens from oppression, and those that don't.
It is the same with God's Constitution and to think otherwise would be to repeat the old mistakes
of misguided people burning books and committing horrible crimes in the name of God.
9. Spirituality
Since times immemorial people aspired to experience more than just the pleasures and sensations
of the body, even more so in the primitive than in civilized cultures. People always wanted to experience
the world of the Spirit.
From this perspective we paid a high price for our material advancements. We possess more
material things than ever but we lost touch with our souls. We are not happy.
Judaism, Christianity and Islam are indeed pathetic with their claims of providing
spiritual services. Sprirituality is a daily experience, not a doctrine
supported with superficial rituals. Not only those religions do not teach spirituality
but they actively persecute it.
Yet, the existence of great mystics and mysticism in each one of the materialistic religions
only proves that the spirit cannot be killed and will always rise from the death, as Jesus Christ
did. This is the spiritual meaning of the Allegory of Jesus Christ complementing the political
interpretation explained before.
10. Sex and procreation
All three big monotheistic religions teach you that sex is bad and procreation good. It is,
however, just the opposite. Sex is good, procreation bad. The first step in alleviating
the sufferings of the world is to stop and reverse the population growth. The second step is
for every men and women to look inside and recognize sex for what it truely is. Its biological
purpose aside sex is a powerful force in individual's life, force that should be celebrated and
not feared or hypocritically rejected. Sex is a cousin of genius and creativity. It should be
used for good but this is only possible when we openly embrace it and experience with innocent
minds and hearts.
What about the homosexual act? The condemnation of homosexuality in the Bible is again a very
powerful allegory. If your congressman sworn to serve those who elected him makes a secret deal
with a corporate leader sworn to serve the shareholders, they engage in a sinful homosexual act
God hates. People in power are supposed to serve their constituents as the husband is obliged
to serve his wife.
What about marriage? Marriage is a relation between any person in power and those who are submitted
to this power. People in power are supposed to serve. Are they? The better society Jesus Christ
is talking about will eliminate the problem altogether. There will be no people in power and
no those deprived of power. Remember what the Bible says? There will be no husbands and
wifes in heaven. We will be all like angels.
Marriage between a man and a woman is just a legal contract between two people who supposedly
love each other. It is nobody's business other than their lawyers. Church and the state can help but
they have no right and no business in trying to get their share of the pie so to speak. Some religious
leaders will rather have the wife killed by the husband than see the "sacred bonds" broken.
In this male dominated society marriage as a legal contract provides some protection a woman
and the children need. In other societies, however, men and women lived in separate communities
and the community of women provided the protection the women and the children needed. What is better?
Whatever works better in the specific culture and under specific circumstances.
11. Money
Is money the root of all evil? Yes, in a sense. The problem of this country [USA] is that the money
yields too much power. Some people think that it is the best if money, or free market as they say,
control everything. But keep in mind that there is no system assuring that money is distributed
equally or fairly. By allowing the money to hold unlimited power we planted the seeds of injustice
that will eventually destroy this society.
The first step in the right direction is to abolish the private property of the land.
The second step is to abolish the real estate taxes. Why allowing the free market to control
the price of land? Here are some serious questions you should think about.
- Free market is supposed to drive the prices down, not up. Is it happening in the real estate
market?
- Free market is supposed to ensure that we have more goods, not less. Does anybody seriously
believe that allowing the free market to control the price of the land will result in more land
for everybody?
- People acquire real estate also to provide for their retirements due to the power of appreciation.
Do you really believe that such pyramid scheme can be sustained indefinitely?
- Communities and people engage in racism and discrimination protecting their property value.
Does the price of the property give you a valid excuse for the immoral behavior?
- Many retirees sell their homes because they can no longer afford real estate taxes.
Do you think that this trend demonstrates the self regulating market forces at play that benefit
everybody?
12. Bible
There is an intellectual component in personal beliefs and for most of the Christians
this component is related to the Bible. For people whose spiritual life is dominated
by the real spiritual experience the intellectual component of their faith is not
that important. For the rest of us, however, it is a different story. We have faith
but we also have doubts and we strive to support our beliefs with understanding.
That is why you go to church every Sunday looking for an inspiration
and for your weekly renewal of the personal enthusiasm and conviction regarding
your faith.
Sounds good in theory but here is the embarrassing truth. The more educated you are
the more confused you become when confronted with the Bible on which, supposedly,
your belief system is founded. What kind of inspiration can you get from reading
the story of the creation? Is not it a little simplistic? Naive perhaps? You know
that science will provide a better story, more entertaining and rich in fascinating
details about how the universe, the Solar system and the Earth were created.
Or take another example from the New Testament. What will you make of
the Jesus Christ’s advice to "Sell your material possessions and follow me."
Is Jesus Christ endorsing the lifestyle of a homeless person, or a hippie? Or is it
just a parable as those of us who don’t like parting with our possessions desperately
try to interpret. Well, yes, it is a parable but very different from what you might
expect.
I would like to propose a different look at the Bible. Bible complementing
or replacing science? No, it is not a serious proposition. Bible providing spiritual
inspiration? Sorry to burst your bubble but if you make an effort to study cultures
really devoted to practicing spiritual experience you realize how superficial
and shallow the spiritual teachings of Christian churches are including ritual
readings of the Bible. Bible teaching us some universal moral principles? Sorry, the famous canon
of the Ten Commandments merely endorses the twisted morality of society build around the principal
of private property and patriarchal power structure. Not to mention the psychological damage
the bizarre stand on sex inflicts on those who try to listen to the Bible.
Please excuse me if I also quickly dismiss some other ways of interpreting the Bible
you might heard of like "The Bible Code" or the Bible as a book on alchemy, nutrition or astrology.
There is only one chance of saving the Bible from being dismissed by intelligent people
as the "babble" conceived by nomadic tribes in the desert and "leading us to a desert".
There is only one meaning of the Bible, which is as hot
and exciting as it was two thousand years ago. One meaning that is intellectually
productive. One meaning that provides hope for anybody craving to see some justice
and happiness in this life rather than unfounded and suspiciously sounding promises,
or threats, made by the Bible "interpreters" of your religion. This is the political
meaning of biblical allegories, parables, metaphors and archetypes.
Read the story of creation as the story of building a nation, the prescription
for founding our social life on the model that works. The model provided by God.
Read the advice of Jesus Christ as a remark that society build around the principle
of private property will never work and that you need a better principle if you want
the social harmony, justice and happiness. Look at the Bible as a political manifesto
and you will see the unparalleled wisdom of the book. Take waters. They usually mean
the laws or religious and political teachings. When the Church of your particular
religion was recognized by political authorities and legalized it was baptized with
"water". Now, is it also baptized with the spirit? Is it able to provide you with
the sound spiritual and political advice? When the Church of your particular religion
gets an exemption status from restrictions imposed on secular institutions isn’t
it the parting of the Red Sea waters? You have a free pass but somebody else will
go to jail for violating the laws as it happened to the Egyptian soldiers who "drowned".
Why do we have the "waters above the firmament" and "waters under the firmament"?
Does the separation of State and Religion sound familiar?
13. Religions of irrational fear
Is God of the Bible a cruel despot of uncontrollable temper and unstable personality,
or is He the compassionate father and mother? Are the Judaism, Christianity and Islam
the Freudian cases of repressed desires and frustrations born of harsh conditions
of life in the desert, or are they to provide spiritual comfort and happiness?
To understand your relationship with God you have to understand your relationship
with people, and your religion is a good reflection of it. Is your religion
the religion of fear, or is it the religion of love? Do you see friends, brothers
and sisters around you, or do you see the sinners that must be scorned?
This is the most important question for you to ponder because a religion of fear
will destroy all the spiritual aspirations you have, whatever they are. A religion
of fear is the worst mockery of religion and the worst sin. It ruins your happiness
in this life, it is poisoning your relationships with other people, it spreads like
a disease and it is passed to next generations. Enslavement in a religion of fear does not
even end when you die so it is important that you free yourselve now, when you have
the opportunity.
There is hardly anything as controversial in ethical debates as the issues of life
and death, so let's talk about it. It is very easy to find the right answers to any
ethical dilemmas you face. All you need is to think about someone very dear to you,
be it your child, or your friend, and ask your heart to be your guide. It is natural
and right to follow your heart and do anything you can to spare your loved ones
the pain and cruelty of the death, and help them, if this is the only option, to die
with dignity. It is cruel and not natural to follow religious taboos and condemn
your loved ones to unnecessary pain and sufferings. Barbarians and Romans, pagans
and skeptics understood the call of the heart and were helping their friends die
when necessary to save them from suffering. We lovingly help our pets die if they
suffer from terminal illness, so why are we kindler to pets than we are to
our human fellows? Ah, sanctity of human life. Or, is it, really? If there is
something even scarier than death to religiously challenged folks, it is life itself,
the immortal life. There are scientists who seriously consider the possibility
of extending our life span by intervening into the aging processes and improving
the efficiency of body's self fixing mechanism at the molecular level. Some even think
immortality of the physical body is possible and exploring the cloning might be
the right venue to get there. And isn't it amazing how quickly the cloning
was condemned and banned as "morally wrong"? If you openly express your desire
to become physically immortal and invest in science that would make it possible
you will be scorned and labeled an immoral person promoting something ethically questionable,
if not downright "dangerous". Yet, if you want to die because you prefer the peace of death
than the sufferings of a gravely ill body you will be labeled a sinner. In the Christian culture
a suicide was punishable with prison. There was no condoning of suicide even if the motif
was to save the family finances and honor. Yet, in the post Columbine discussion many
Christians expressed the wish to have the opportunity to die for Jesus Christ.
When debating the secular movement the Christian right accuses the other side of moral
"relativism". But if the Christian stand on life and death is not the ultimate example
of moral relativism I don't know what is. The traditional Christian morality is even more
"relative" in the subject of sex and private property. Yes, we need sound moral principles
and clear distinction between right and wrong. Unfortunately, this is not what the Christian
fundamentalists are able to offer.
One of the most bizarre incident involving religious authorities projecting their
fears on science and society was "advice" the late pope gave to Stephen Hawkins,
the famous cosmologist of our time. In essence, the pope warned Hawkins not
to investigate the very origins of the universe known in the scientific jargon
as Big Bang. According to the pope it is OK to study what happened after
the Big Bang but the Big Bang itself should be left alone out of respect for God's
secrets. What is it, I asked myself with amazement when I learned about it?
Has the pope forgotten the lessons of the humiliating and embarrassing quarrels
with science in the past? I don't care whether the Catholic Church officially
rehabilitates Galileo or not but it makes me angry when the institution guilty
of persecuting science in the past tries again to dictate to science and scientists
what they are allowed, and what they are not allowed to do.
The most troubling aspect of the above incident is the claim to control science
put forward by the authority incompetent in science. If anything, we need more science,
not less. We need more stem cell research, not less. We need more prying into God's
secrets, not less. Were would we be today if it wasn't for scientists of the past
who dissected cadavers and studied the skies thus prying into God's secrets and defying
the church orders?
The second troubling aspect of the "pope incident" is the ease, with which religious
zealots assume the role of God's defenders. It is amazing, and frightening, how many
volunteer to fight on God's side, defend God's honor or guard God's secrets. It would
be interesting to ask God what He thinks about those volunteers and how badly He needs
them. Well, I know the answer. God has nothing to do with this business.
The "defenders" of God are merely on their own ego trips and all they defend
or fight for is their own power.
14. Noah's Ark
In this age of political correctness and sensitivities everybody tries very hard
not to offend the religious feelings. Everybody except the religious ideologues,
that is. While we are trying not to do anything inappropriate with the religious
"symbols" they are viciously attacking our basic human rights and values.
While they cry about their symbols we are being offended on a daily basis and with impunity.
You don't know what I am talking about? Ask the homosexuals, ask women seeking
abortions, ask atheists and ask scientists interested in stem cell research.
Is this religious freedom that this country so proudly promises? No, it is religious
anarchy, no offence to Christian anarchists who actually are peace and freedom
loving people of very interesting political persuasion. The religious freedom
will not happen until we say no to religious ideology in the government. Unfortunately,
it didn't happen yet.
But the day known as the Judgment Day is coming. What is the Day of Judgment?
Today, every religion claims the right to judge you and me, and how we behave.
The Day of Judgment will bring the change of roles. You and me will judge religions
by how good they are, and how they contribute to our happiness or misery.
The Day of Judgment is the process of examining those teachings
under the God's microscope. It is the process of separating the good stuff from
the bad in every teaching and ideology. The good stuff is everything that serves
humanity. It is everything that builds communities, establishes equality between
people and increases our freedom. The bad stuff is what creates divisions, establishes
hierarchy and gives some people power over the lives of others.
Today, every religion pretends it knows the secrets of life and death, and the ultimate
awards and punishments for how we conduct our lives. The Day of Judgment is to call
the bluff of every religious teaching. Like everything else in life the spiritual
secrets will not be discovered by intellectual mediocrities and liers blinded by self-importance
and hunger for power. The progress in uncovering spiritual truths is not happening
in churches and is not happening in mosques. The titles of a Minister, Pope, Rabbi or Ayatollah
are about as good as the Ph.D. diplomas acquired on the internet for the reasonable fee of $100,
as far as understanding of spiritual secrets is concerned. So, while you may appreciate
what your "spiritual" leaders do for the society, and for your community, don't let them
teach you about the awards and punishments awaiting you when you die. They don't know.
Those secrets will be discovered and revealed in this millennium by the minds truely dedicated
to the pursue of truth as has always been the case and will ever be.
The Day of Judgment is not very pleasant if you happen to be one of those people
in power who are not used to have your authority questioned. But the interesting
thing is that the Day of Judgment is done strictly on the voluntary basis. Nobody
will drag you before the judge. Nobody will force you to have your teachings brought
to the court and inspected. You will have to come and ask the Judge for the privilege
of being cleansed by the fire.
Why would anybody want to do it, you could ask? The pains of humiliation are obvious
so what are the awards? The big prize is the admission to the Freedom Gates, or the
Kingdom of God if you need more familiar name. Everybody is invited and nobody will
be rejected. Christians, Buddhists, Atheists, Pagans, Jews, Muslims are all welcomed.
Of course, you will have to get rid of some tenets of your religion like
the "chosen people", or the rights to treat your wife as your property, or
the conviction that homosexuals are sinners without rights. Those particular
tenets do not serve humanity very well and they have no place in the Kingdom of God.
The Kingdom of God is a secular enterprise. It has a job, among other important
tasks, of managing the religions, which choose to get registered. Why would anyone
want to get registered only to be managed? Well, the Kingdom of God is also known
as the Noah's Ark. The flood of new laws and regulations intended to manage religions
is coming. Much stricter standards for operating a religion will be required before
the license is issued.
15. New Christianity
What is the message of a prophet in a western democracy? Am I going to talk about
the Confucius tradition? I could in theory but it would make little sense.
Jesus could talk about some oriental deities and His message would essentially remain
the same, only the worlds and the parables would be different. But it would not make
any sense. It would serve no purpose other than proving some abstract and irrelevant
point. The only thing that made sense in the time of Jesus was what Jesus did when
he talked about the God of the Bible and the biblical prophecies. The only thing
that makes sense now is to continue working in the tradition of our culture
and our civilization.
Our tradition includes the Roman respect for the laws, the Greek affirmation
of arts and beauty, Native Americans understanding and appreciation of nature.
But the most important tradition we have is the Christian roots that shaped our sense
of justice, morals and ethics. Therefore, I will be talking again about the God
of the Bible and the biblical prophecies. I could call my teachings many names but
the most fitting name is the New Christianity. I want to build on the foundation
of what Jesus Christ taught about love, forgiveness and peace. I want to continue
what Jesus Christ started. There is nothing to be discarded from His message.
The message of Jesus Christ gave the world the universal idea. The idea
of bringing nations together in one universal faith, one universal religion.
This is still a valid message and we need to present it to the world again.
Is Christianity the best of religion? No. By almost any measure the Christianity
is one of the world’s worst religion. It lacks the wisdom of Buddhism, which recognizes
the need for compassion and teaches that how we relate to other human beings is more
important than how we relate to our spiritual concepts. It lacks the wisdom of Hinduism,
which recognizes that different religions and different gods do not contradict
each other and the wars over religious differences serve no purpose. It lacks
the wisdom of aboriginal faith recognizing the secret of spirituality in our connection
with the nature and not in our separation from the nature. Yet, Christianity is
the best in a sense. It is the Christianity, which produced the western democracies
capable of managing technology, arts and science, and providing the humane conditions
for its citizens at the same time. It is the Christianity that created
the United Nations and Red Cross. It is the Christianity leading in the efforts
to address the global problems facing the world. It is the Christianity that come up
with the concept of helping the poor nations.
People ask me why of all religions I criticise Christianity the most. What about
fundamentalists in Islam or Judaism? Are they less dangerous? No. However, I am a builder
not a destroyer. I criticize Christianity because I am here to build the new Christianity.
I am not here to build the new Judaism or Islam.
16. Message
What is the message of God? What is the message of Thomas Orr? What is the purpose
of the Freedom Gates movement?
Now is the time to start building the Kingdom of God. You do it when you expand freedom.
You do it when you build the community. You do it when you build institutions. These are
the three pillars of the just society, which pleases God, freedom, community, institution.
Community is an extended family. Community doesn't happen when people just live together.
It happens when people bond with each other and are there to support each other, and enjoy each
other company. It takes time, and work, and patience to build a community.
I live in the suburbs and on a weekend when I need to drive somewhere I am always amazed.
Why is everybody on the road creating traffic jams? Why is everybody running away from the suburban
paradise? What is so special about malls where everybody seems to be heading?
Well, all those people driving around are uprooted. They crave for any sense of belonging,
they crave for any form of human interaction. They go to the movies not because they want to see
a movie but because they need to get away from their houses, and from the boring routines
of their daily lives.
When I was a little kid my mother never had to keep me entertained. She didn't drive me
to soccer games, or to the mall. Yet, I was happy and she was worry free regarding my safety.
So why today every mother has to be a super-mom responsible for the kids' entertainment
and constantly worried about their safety? It is because the communities disappeared. People
are alone with their problems.
Institutions are foundation of the nation's wealth and prosperity. They are like trees.
Their roots are spread wide to draw the best talents so they can grow strong and provide
countless benefits. They guard against natural disasters by holding the soil together, cooling
down the earth, bringing in life giving rain. Institutions are like trees also because they grow
slowly. Smart nations understand the importance of forests and they thoughtfully guard their
precious natural resources. Foolish nations cut their forests down and turn the land into a desert.
Foolish nations don't understand the importance of institutions. Foolish nations believe that
democracy is the answer, which can compensate for the lack of competence, talent, education
and professionalism, all of which are nurtured in the institutions.
Is really democracy the answer? In twenty something years I was watching the American
democracy in action all I saw was one community pinned against the other. We need to build a school.
Sure, but not in my backyard.
Democracy is a myth. In the presidential elections candidates are being criticized, and lose
elections, for changing their positions on important issues. Well, isn't it what a politician
is supposed to do? In the perfect democracy a politician perfectly mirrors and follows what
the constituents want so why criticize somebody for following the ever changing mood of the
voters? Ah, we need a leader, who has a vision and who will save us from our uncertainties.
Well, sometimes we get lucky and elect a true leader who does make a difference but mathematically
speaking the long term outcome governed by the probabilities of the process we call democracy
is bleak. The forces at work like the qualities of people standing the best chances to get elected
assure the long term failure of the system. Corruption is synonymus with democracy and not
something democracy will cure. Democracy is prone to be manipulated by the rich and powerful
and it will ultimately be manipulated. Democray could work if the mechanisms in place favored
good, competent and talented people to rise and win offices. They don't.
On the other hand, mechanisms favoring the good, competent and talented people for advancement
and leadership exist in many institutions, science being the best example. English Empire of the
ninetinth century had better understanding of the institution than America ever had.
Under the slogan of serving the Queen such institutions as The Royal Academy of Science,
The Royal Navy, British Bank and Railroads were created and prospered. In America under God guided
by the principals of free market, free elections, and democracy the only meaningful institutions
I know are the military, Federal Reserve Board and the stock market. All three serving neither God,
nor democracy but only catering to the rich.
History is the best teacher if one has the wisdom and patience to study. Students of history
can learn that dictators such as Julius Caesar, Napoleon, or Ataturk made a profound impact
on nations and improved the lives of ordinary people more than the "balanced" political
systems, which preceded or succeeded them. This is not to praise the dictators but only to
expose the myth of democracy. The advancement of human race happens because of what geniuses
conceive against the popular "wisdom" of mediocrity. We need a political system, which honors
the best men and women in the nation, and which listens to what the wise have to say.
Unfortunately, democracy as understood and practiced in our time is not such a system.
17. Freedom Gates
There are three Great Gates to Freedom: education, education, education. There is only one way
of expressing and enjoying your freedom: in a community. There is only one way of serving God
and the nation: to serve in the institution. Freedom Gates is the only True Religion because
it shows the ultimate spiritual path: serving God and the nation by serving in the institution.
Before the Free Market Economy and Globalization took over the world Science emerged as
the greatest institution ever created by man. There is no life more fulfilling and spiritually
rewarding like that of an accomplished scientist conscious of the fact that his work ultimately
serves the humanity. The same is true for any civil servant able to dedicate his or her life
to the meaningful service in an institution. Unfortunately, with the decline of state
the institutions are quickly disappearing. National Science becomes Corporate Science,
an oxymoron indeed. Those who hope that working for the bottom line of a corporation will bring
the same spiritual rewards as working for the humanity, hope foolishly.
One joins the Freedom Gates movement to acquire better understanding of own spiritual needs
and ways to fulfill them. One also joins the Freedom Gates movement to help with bringing
some light to the world submerged in a dense darkness.
What are the benefits of joining the Freedom Gates movement? By joining the movement you choose
the company of similarly minded people. The right company is precious. Friends and friendships
have more value than anything you can buy and they extend beyond the limits of one lifetime.
Choosing the right company is very important when the time of the Great Separation comes.
In a secular, tolerant and spiritual state there is no room for power driven systems
trying to impose their dark vision on everybody else. The two worlds will eventually
get separated. It is your own free will to determine where you want to be and where you will go.
I wish you to be with us.
